Senate Bill 40
County Boards of Services for Persons with Developmental Disabilities

Senate Bill 40 is state legislation which allows for local control and financial support for a variety of community based programs and services for persons with developmental disabilities. Senate Bill 40 allows counties to levy up to .20 per $100.00 assessed valuation with approval by a simple majority of county voters to support the development and maintenance of services, programs and supports. Due to the efforts and commitment of interested citizens, particularly family members, each of the eight counties within Region IV have passed this tax levy and have formed county boards to administer these funds.

Estimated Total tax levy funds available within Region IV is $11,710,900.00

The types, development, availability and the administration of services/ supports varies in each county.
