What Is It?

Peer/Self advocacy groups for people with developmental disabilities that teaches and supports individuals to make their own decisions about their lives, solve problems, and speak for themselves.


People First of Missouri
Currently there are 40 People First Chapters throughout Missouri. There are three People First Chapters in the Kansas City area.

Midtown
Meets the first Thursday of every month
4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Meets the first Sunday of every month

Meets the third Tuesday of every month

Issues Group of UCP of Greater Kansas City
The Issues Group is a forum where adults, age 18 or over, with cerebral palsy and persons with similar life experiences meet and discuss matters of interest and concern. The group is also open to friends and family members who share our concerns. This group serves an informational function and as a support group. Monthly meetings are held on week nights from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and are always at accessible facilities which are on para transit (Share-a-Fare) routes. There is no membership fee.

Costs for social functions are the individual's responsibility.
