Children's Benefit Services for Families

The mission of Children's Benefit Services is to empower families of children with special needs in the Greater Kansas City area to obtain health and related benefits for their children. This assistance includes providing technical assistance, information, referral and advocacy to enable children to perform to their highest potential because of improved access to health and related benefits.

The following are samples of the assistance provided to families:

• Technical assistance provided to family during their appeal process for a denied claim by their insurance carrier.
• Assistance in making sure that a family is accessing available public benefits such as Title V resources, the Children's Health Insurance Program and SSI. And in identifying foundations that give special grants for health care.
• Assistance in obtaining coverage for needed therapies from the families insurance carrier.
• Assisting families in obtaining reimbursement from their insurance carrier for assistive technology devices.
